At UConn, Document/Content Management is synonymous with IBM’s FileNet product. FileNet is a secure, searchable electronic content repository customized for each UConn School and Department.

FileNet brings UConn closer to a paperless society and allows for business process improvements through quick and easy document retrieval and simple workflow.

What is ECM?

ECM stands for Enterprise Content Management aka Document Management; ECM is an IBM suite of products which includes:

FileNet is a secure, searchable electronic content/document repository which includes simple workflow

DataCap is a scanning solution that empties file cabinets and stores documents electronically in FileNet

Content Navigator is a robust user interface that facilitates search and retrieval, check Out/In, version control, collaboration services, and other features designed to enhance the document management and information exchange process.

Case Management/Case Foundation is a business process automation toolset which allows for the creation of complex workflows using business rules and electronic content.

Enterprise Records Management (ER) is a business solution that manages document/records lifecycle. UConn does not currently own licenses to this tool.
