    • ECM (Enterprise Content Management) is designed to address the challenges of managing both Structured and Unstructured content at the enterprise level.  ECM includes capturing, organizing, securing, and storing unstructured and structured content within an enterprise from creation to disposition, and facilitates searching and controlled access to managed information directly from business processes.
  • What is available for Document Management?
    • The FileNet document management system is available for university staff and faculty.  It provides a framework for the capture of documents through scanning and electronic ingestion, categorization, secure storage, version management, editing, and search & retrieval.  It will enable the management and accessibility of documents across the university while maintaining security and control over sensitive information.
  • What is FileNet?
    • FileNet is an Enterprise Content Management (ECM) product suite from IBM and is used to manage content and business processes.  It provides a framework for developing enterprise wide content/document management solutions that include document  capture(scanning), workflow automation, and enterprise records management.
  • What is Datacap?
    • Datacap is a document capture solution for the electronic capture of paper documents through high volume scanning and automatic ingestion of electronic documents into the FileNet document repository. It utilizes OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology to capture data used for document meta data, data validation, and integration with data management applications.
  • Can I use a desktop scanner to scan documents into FileNet?
    • Desktop scanners can be used to scan paper documents. After they are scanned, they can be added to the FileNet repository manually via drag-and-drop functionality.
  • What file formats can be added and viewed in FileNet?
    •  Any file format can be added and retrieved from the FileNet repository. For example, Office files, PDF, images (JPG, PNG, etc.),video, sound files, and more.
  • What is available for electronic forms?
    •  IBM Forms Experience Builder (FEB) is available for the creation of web-based electronic forms.  FEB is a data-centric forms tool.
